BURLINGTON, Ky. – The Boone County Sheriff is looking a clever thief who steals checkbooks from cars, writes checks from one victim to another, and deposits half the check and takes the rest in cash.
The car break-ins occurred in Florence and Park Hills on March 14 and at England/Idlewild Park in Burlington on March 15.
The thief then wrote checks for more than $3,000 each and cashed them at banks in Highland Heights, Taylor Mill and Alexandria, Ky., as well as Monfort Heights, Ohio.
Anyone who can identify the man in the surveillance photos or the Jeep Patriot is asked to call the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at (859) 334-2175 or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
