Aaron Jones' 1998 Mustang hit the sign in the center median at the entrance to Millikin Woods Park, on Washington Blvd., south of Woodview Lane, police said.
The one-car accident happened about 4:50 a.m.
Jones, 20, from Hamilton, had to be extricated by the Hamilton Fire Department and flown by AirCare helicopter to University Hospital Medical Center for surgery.
