The Doctor Is In: UC Health MD offers advice to help runners stay healthy and finish the big race

CINCINNATI – Thousands of runners are getting ready for the 16th annual Flying Pig Marathon . They’ve run countless miles and worked for months. But what about staying healthy on race day to make sure you make it to the finish?

Dr. Christopher Utz, an orthopedic surgeon at UC Health, dispels one common mistake runners can make.  “No pain, no gain is not a good philosophy during race day. It actually can take more courage to stop during race day than to actually continue on and hurt yourself further,” the sports medicine expert said.
