CINCINNATI – Organizers of the Flying Pig Marathon plan on giving women runners the royal treatment this fall.
The inaugural “Queen Bee Half Marathon” is set to take place Saturday, Oct. 11, Iris Simpson-Bush, the Pig’s executive director, announced Tuesday.
“The Flying Pig Marathon is proud to offer this new half marathon, not just for women, but to all runners and walkers in Greater Cincinnati,” said Iris Simpson-Bush executive director. “As in all our Flying Pig events, the primary aim is raising money for our charities, but we want it to be a fun, ‘girls’ weekend’ destination event.”
Besides the race itself, Simpson-Bush said the Queen Bee includes a “Bee-u-tique” that will highlight pampering and wellness before the event. A fashion show of leisurewear and sportswear will also take place.
After the race, where participants are encouraged to dress up in costume, an after-party will take place. The party will have massages, chocolates and champagne, Simpson-Bush said.
A four-mile run/walk will also take place Saturday morning through downtown Cincinnati.
