CINCINNATI -- A Tennessee man wanted on a murder charge averted police custody in Cincinnati Monday after he ran off during a traffic stop.
Authorities said 25-year-old Terrance D. Brown escaped deputies after a vehicle he was in was pulled over on the Norwood Lateral near Ridge Road for a traffic violation.
A Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy stopped the white 2000 Buick at about 1 a.m. During the stop, Brown got out of the vehicle and ran from police through a wooded area along I-71, authorities said.
The deputy chased Brown, but could not locate him.
Two other people inside the vehicle were questioned but were not taken into custody.
K-9 units and a helicopter were dispatched to search for Brown but were unsuccessful.
Oakley and Evanston residents who live near the area where Brown escaped said Monday they are concerned for their safety.
"Do you try to take note of the description? Yes, I did – especially when they say it was in our neighborhood,” said Oakley resident Jim Linkhart. “We just live a few blocks away."
Brown is wanted in Tennessee on murder and robbery charges.
Police consider him to be armed and dangerous, and say he may have ties to College Hill.
"I'm certain all the leads are being run down,” Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Peter Enderle said. “(We are trying) to find out if he's got family or any contacts here in town.”
Brown is about 6 feet 1 inch tall, 150 pounds and was last seen wearing dark pants and a camouflage jacket.
Authorities ask that anyone with information regarding Brown's whereabouts call 513-825-1500.
