CINCINNATI – Police identified a man shot to death Friday night in East Price Hill.
Officers found Steven Gilbert, 34, suffering multiple gunshot wounds at 3119 Murdock Avenue at about 10:35 p.m.
He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he died.
Gilbert became the 10th Cincinnati homicide in January 2014. That number is up from the six homicides reported in January 2013.
As WCPO reporter Kareem Elgazzar wrote on Thursday, the spate of deaths comes as Cincinnati’s new police chief attempts to bolster the city’s police department and recruit new officers.
Cincinnati has not graduated a recruit class since 2008.
The city’s homicide unit continued to investigate Gilbert's death Saturday morning. No suspects were taken into custody.
