COVINGTON, Ky. -- A couple of new developments are getting started in Covington on Tuesday.

It's all part of a redevelopment initiative for urban areas of Northern Kentucky.

Tuesday's groundbreaking involves two projects.

One is the groundbreaking for the future home of UpTech , a Northern Kentucky informatics startup accelerator at Pike Star.

The other is a new market-rate apartment building at Market Lofts.

The plan for UpTech is to attract small start-up tech companies to Covington. The business will also partner with Northern Kentucky University and will receive mentoring support from WCPO Digital's parent company, E.W. Scripps.

Officials said millions of dollars are being spent to revitalize downtown Covington and the Catalytic Development Funding Corporation is providing the money for the projects.

The ceremony will be held at noon at the corner of Seventh Street and Washington Parking Lot, across from the Pike Street.
