CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Police Department announced Thursday that it recovered over 30 pounds of heroin and made two arrests during a drug investigation earlier this week.
Pedro Mendoza Jr., 28, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Moises Solano-Devalos, 21, of Highland Heights, Ky., were taken into custody Tuesday, Feb. 26, according to the police report.
According to police, Mendoza arranged deliveries while in L.A. and then traveled to Cincinnati to complete the transactions and collect payments for the sale of the illicit drugs. Investigators say Mendoza, Solano-Devalos and other co-conspirators have been conducting these activities for several years. The names of the known co-conspirators were not been released.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is more than $3 million. Police say the drug bust will significantly impact the local supply of heroin.
Both men face federal charges of conspiracy and possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
Investigators from the Cincinnati Police Major Drug Offenders Unit and the Cincinnati DEA continue to investigate the case.
