CINCINNATI - Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati gave away $1 million in July, but got $2 million back in increased revenue, according to new figures from the Ohio Casino Control Commission.
The downtown Cincinnati property generated $19.3 million in adjusted gross revenue in July, up 9 percent from June. After revenue dipped to $17.6 million in June, the casino announced a $3 million summer giveaway promotion in which it awards $1 million each month to one lucky customer.
Reatha Jenkins of Cincinnati claimed the prize in early July. A second winner will be announced Saturday.
The Cincinnati casino had an active promotional roster in July, including concerts by Alice Cooper, Willie Nelson and Sugar Ray.
Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati enjoyed the second-best month in its history in slots performance in July, generating $14.4 million from its 2,000 slot machines. Its total revenue in July was nearly $2 million lower than its best performance: A $21 million March, its first full month in business.
Cleveland's Horseshoe Casino remained Ohio's top revenue generator in July, with $19.9 million in total revenue, up 3 percent from June.
