If you are a Netflix subscriber, get ready for some pleasant surprises....and some agonizing ones, now that it's 2014.
Each year in January, Netflix refreshes its streaming movie lineup, and this January is no exception.
Movies No Longer Available
Tired of watching Jack and Rose try to survive the sinking of the Titanic? It was a great movie the first time, but not the 20th.
Unless you are a 13-year-old girl, you may be relieved to know that Titanic is disappearing from the Netflix streaming lineup, along with about two dozen other popular movies.
Netflix has to pay rights for every movie in its lineup, so it cannot simply keep adding new movies, and keeping the price low, according to analysts.
Among movies removed from the streaming lineup as of 2014 (but still available on DVD), according to the website Reddit.com.
-Being John Malkevich
-Dark Shadows (TV)
-Early Saturday NIght Live (TV)
New Movies Coming Aboard
But new movies to the Netflix lineup for 2014, according to Reddit, will include:
-The Talented Mr Ripley
-Thelma and Louise
-West Side Story
-Planes Trains and Automobiles
Analysts say for Netflix to own the rights to thousands of movies on its streaming sites, users would have to pay at least 30 dollars a month.
By keeping the list thin, it keeps the price below 10 bucks a month.
