Nestle's Purina pet food company is recalling 3.5 pound bags of its Purina One beyOnd White Meat Chicken & Whole Barley dry dog food.

This comes after the company confirmed that one bag of the food was contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses are reported yet.

This involves only one production run of the bagged dog food, so the October 2014 "best by" date is important in this recall.

No other Purina ONE dog or cat food is part of the recall.

What To Check For

Purina says only bags of dog food with the following information printed on them are affected by this recall:

-"Best By" date of Oct 2014

     -Production Code: 31071083

     -UPC Code: 17800 112679

Salmonella can cause nausea, vomiting, cramps, and fever in both pets and humans, and can lead to more serious infections in some cases. In addition, people handling salmonella contaminated pet food can contract the disease themselves.

If you have any of these bags, return them to the store.

As always, don't waste your money.
