Wine me, dine me pick: ¡Por favor! Special Cuban pizza at Dewey's needs to stay on the menu

NEWPORT, Ky. - We are pleased to bring you this weekly feature from Julie Niesen Gosdin, the voice behind the food blog wine me, dine me. Julie serves up a "Pick of the Week," when she visits a local eatery and samples a signature menu item.

Dewey's monthly specials on pizza are always interesting. The Tito Santana is a cult classic, and I still wish that they'd bring back the J. Wellington Wimpy, which is a hamburger pizza (of course) with ketchup and mustard "sauce" topped with ground beef, tomatoes, cheese and pickles.

On Sunday, my husband and I were looking for something for lunch that was a little different than our usual, so I checked Dewey's monthly pizza special and saw a Cuban pizza. My beloved pickles on a pizza? We had to go.

We first headed to the Clifton location (no lunch on Sunday!) and then to the Newport location, where we split a salad and a Cuban pizza.
