WKRP in Cincinnati stars reunite for show's 35th anniversary

CINCINNATI -- It lasted four glorious seasons on the air and has brought decades of laughs to people in the Queen City and beyond.

Thirty-five years later, the cast of “WKRP in Cincinnati” is reuniting to relive the story of a struggling radio station saved by rock ‘n roll.

The show was created by Hugh Wilson and produced by MTM Studios for CBS in 1978.

Series stars including Howard Hesseman, (deejay Dr. Johnny Fever,) Tim Reid, (deejay Venus Flytrap,), Loni Anderson, (receptionist Jennifer Marlowe,) Richard Sanders, (newsman Les Nessman,) and more brought laughs and smiles to fans for 88 episodes -- 90 in syndication.

In honor of the 35th anniversary of the show, the Paley Center is gathering cast members including Hesseman, Anderson, Reid and Jan Smithers (Bailey Quarters,) for a look back at the original comedy.

While the event itself takes place in Beverly Hills, fans in Cincinnati can watch it streamed on the Center’s website starting at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The show was known for its often-dark humor and running gags, but also had soul in its use of music and occasionally somber moments.
