CINCINNATI - How do you engage young people about the Holocaust?
Turn up the volume and bust a move.
That's how Studio Kre8v, the hip-hop dance crew at urban youth arts center Elementz has found a doorway into the horrors of 75 years ago.
"(We're) really focused not only teaching about the lessons and history of the Holocaust, but how can we bring these lessons out today?" said Alexis Storch, director of educational outreach for the Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education , in Cincinnati.
"We jumped at the opportunity," Storch said of collaborating with Elementz and Temple Sholom , in Amberley Village.
That collaboration plays out Saturday, Jan. 25, when Studio Kre8v highlights a program called "A Place for Hip-Hop and Respect," marking United Nations Holocaust Remembrance Day . Jan. 27 is the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
In this video, we bring you inside Elementz's Over-the-Rhine home for a Studio Kre8v rehearsal and interviews with people inside this collaboration.
