The brick ovens used at Strong’s Newport location and their mobile unit were built using traditional Italian design and materials. After getting requests to cater events, Christian purchased his second oven and said, “put it on trailer for me.” (Photo by C. Knight)
Christian and Brian put up signs for their Party in the Park booth. The weekly event has been plagued with rain this year causing many cancellations. Strong’s makes special batches of dough for the event, and usually sells several hundred pizzas. (Photo by C. Knight)
Autumn (above, center) says she loves working in the food industry. She briefly left the trade for a job in retail and hated it. However, she does have other aspirations. She’ll be spending a month in India this fall to continue her education as a yoga instructor. (Photo by C. Knight)
Tony Thompson, a long-time friend of the Strong family and former La Rosas co-worker, prepares a pizza for a customer. All the pizzas are made-to-order in an Old World Italian style using fresh dough and mozzarella that’s sliced instead of grated. (Photo by C. Knight)
The Strongs fell in love with this style of pizza after they tried it for the first time in New York. Though most of the toppings are traditional, they do occasionally offer a three-way pizza and a barbecue chicken pizza with Grippo’s chips on it. (Photo by C. Knight)
