CINCINNATI - While each production features its own cast, Cincinnati Opera's "Galileo Galilei" and "Aida" depend on many of the same stage hands to get on their feet. This is the first time since 2008 the Opera has staged what insiders are calling a "festival," two overlapping productions

"Galileo Galilei" runs July 11-21 at Corbett Theater in the School for Create and Performing Arts, 108 W. Central Parkway in Over-the-Rhine. The popular "Aida" will run from July 18-28 and will close the Opera's season. Shows will be staged at Music Hall, 1248 Elm Street.

This video from WCPO Digital's Matt Peiken gives us a glimpse of the work it takes to prepare two productions at once. In all, 350 people are involved with the cast, crew and trainee interns of "Aida," and 175 with "Galileo Galilei."

If you go:

  • Tickets for the performances start between $35 and $45 and can be bought online or by calling  (513) 241-2742.
