Cincinnati to see frost and possible flurries Thursday morning

Will we see first flurries of the year tonight?

CINCINNATI -- Cold air, chilling wind and a chance of flurries are coming our way Thursday morning.

Two weeks ago we were enjoying summer-like temperatures nearing the 80-degree mark but as the Tri-State weather has it, it's time for a change.

We are looking at a Freeze Warning early Thursday morning from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m., which is right on target. The average date for the first freeze at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is on Oct. 23.

It's hard to believe we're talking about flurries before Halloween. The earliest date that we saw measurable snow here in the Tri-State was on Oct. 19 in 1989.

It's a bit early for measurable snow as our average date is closer to the Thanksgiving holiday, on Nov. 29.

It has only snowed once on Halloween. That historic snowfall happened back in 1993, when we saw around three-tenths of an inch.
