CINCINNATI — Track installation for Cincinnati Streetcar is about to round the final turn — literally.

Starting Monday, construction crews will begin the final phase of streetcar track installation, with a special curved track at the intersection of Second and Main streets.

According to City Construction Engagement Manager Ursula Miller, the work will close Second Street between Walnut and Main streets on Monday at 5 a.m. until 4 p.m. October 30.

Second St. is a major connector along The Banks and Downtown to U.S. 50, the Riverfront, and two interstates. (Google Maps)

Second Street is a major, four-lane connector, linking Interstate 75 to Downtown, The Banks, Interstate 471, Interstate 71 and U.S. 50/Columbia Parkway. Access to interstates 71 and 471, U.S. 50 and Pete Rose Way from Second Street will be shut down as a result of this construction.

Streetcar officials also recently completed overhead cable installation along Main Street from Second Street to Central Parkway. This was the final stretch of wire pulled for the Downtown/OTR streetcar loop:

Streetcar Project Manager John Deatrick said he will be on scene at 6 a.m. Monday to address construction-related questions.
