CINCINNATI – LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are coming to Cincinnati.
The King and his court will play the Indiana Pacers, led by Xavier great David West, in an NBA preseason game on Oct. 15 at Xavier's Cintas Center. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
Ticket information has not been made public.
The Pacers announced the game on their website adding: "On-sale information for preseason games will be announced at a later date."
There were no tickets available through Ticketmaster as of Wednesday morning. The ticket office at Cintas Center had no information on ticket sales.
There may be no end to Ohio's excitement about LeBron returning to his homestate from Miami and leading a young team full of top draft choices.
West's return adds to the thrill for Xavier fans. The 6-9 power forward is arguably Xavier's greatest player and the backbone of the Pacers. West was the AP college player of the year in 2003 when he averaged 20.1 points and 11.8 rebounds.
It's not known if the game will be televised here, but it seems unlikely even though Cavs' regular-season games are shown in the Cincinnati area on Fox Sports Ohio.
There's nothing unusual about the Cavs playing a preseason game in Cincinnati. They have played the past four years at US Bank Arena, taking on the Wizards in 2013 and 2011, the Magic in 2012 and the 76ers in 2010.
Of course, LeBron was playing in South Beach then.
Before playing here, the Cavs take on LeBron's old team, the Heat, in Rio de Janeiro on Oct. 11. That game is part of the NBA's Global Games series.
The Pacers lost star guard Paul George to a broken leg in a USA Basketball exhibition. He will miss the entire season.
Sorry, UC fans, but you won't get to see Lance Stephenson because he left the Pacers for the Charlotte Hornets.
