CLEVELAND -- Now that the Detroit Lions have hired former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell, former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel could be headed to Michigan, too.
The two worked together when Tressel was forced out at Ohio State and spent a season as a consultant for the Colts.
This report comes from ESPN Football Insider Adam Caplan:
Should Jim Caldwell wind up getting the #Lions HC job, don't be surprised to see him look to add Jim Tressel to his offensive staff.— Adam Caplan (@caplannfl) January 14, 2014
Cadwell got the Lions' job Wednesday.
In his follow-up to Caplan's tweet, Patrick Schmidt at Fansided.com points out that Tressel has a strong offensive background.
Meanwhile, the writers at ESPN compiled their Big Ten All-BCS team and installed Tressel as coach, citing his impressive track record. (Current Browns stand-out Joe Thomas and former Browns wideout Braylon Edwards also made the list.)
But where do those qualifications get you in Berea, where Tressel was raised? Apparently not far.
And ESPN's Cleveland beat writer Pat McManamon says he doesn't know why.
