WHO: No. 4 St. Cloud State Huskies (17-6-5) at Miami RedHawks (10-15-3).
WHERE: Cady Arena, Oxford, Ohio.
WHEN: Friday—7:07 p.m.; Saturday—7:05 p.m.
TV: Friday—CBS College Sports (DirecTV Ch. 221, Dish Network Ch. 152).
MIAMI RADIO: Internet only.
ST. CLOUD STATE RADIO: KNSI-AM (1450) and FM (103.3), St. Cloud, Minn.
NOTES: St. Cloud State enters Friday with a 7-1-1 record in its last nine games, although the Huskies have lost three of their last four on the road.
SCSU is leading the conference with 36 points (11-4-3), and St. Cloud leads the NCHC in goals scored (103) and goals per game (3.68).
Forward Nic Dowd has been the hottest Husky with four goals and three assists in his last four games. He leads the team in goals (16) and points (31).
Jonny Brodzinski is another capable scorer with 15 goals and 14 assists. He is always looking to shoot – he leads the conference with 106 shots on goal including a pair of 10-shot games.
Kaile Kasilla is the other double-digit scorer for SCSU with a line of 12-16-28.
These teams split their weekend series in Minnesota, but that was Nov. 8-9 and might as well have been another lifetime ago.
Miami holds a 9-4-1 advantage in the all-time series, and this is the first trip for SCSU to Oxford since October 2009. However, the RedHawks are just 1-3-1 vs. the Huskies in these teams’ last five meetings, including SCSU’s 4-1 win in the 2013 NCAA regional final in Toledo.
Ryan Faragher has been in net the Huskies’ past three games, allowing eight goals in that span. He has started 24 of St. Cloud’s 28 games this season, and with the Huskies sniffing a conference title he should start both nights unless he struggles on Friday.
Both of Miami’s goalies have struggled recently, so who will start on Friday is anyone’s guess.
Junior center Austin Czarnik has a five-game point streak with eight assists in that span, and sophomore center Sean Kuraly has scored in two straight and has a point in his last three.
The RedHawks are 1-8-1 in their last 10 and currently sit in last place in the NCHC. Unless they win on Friday they will clinch their first non-winning regular season in nine years.
