Sycamore hands it to Brian Doneghy for 2OT win over Milford

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Brian Doneghy had run the ball a total of  60 times in 10 regular season games. He almost matched that number Friday night.

Doneghy had 40 rushes and scored twice in overtime - and five times overall - in Sycamore’s 41-35 double overtime win over Milford in a first-round Region 4 opener.

Doneghy finished with 249 ground yards as Sycamore piled up 426 rushing yards overall.

Alex Schaad added 64 on one carry, and Jordan McConnell added six rushes for 58 yards.

The Aviators led by 28-15, but the Eagles battled back with a pair of late touchdowns, tying the score and forcing the extra sessions.

QB Blake King paced Milford with 276 passing yards and three TDs, completing 23 of 40 passes. Jake Ayler and Dylan Hughes each caught six passes and scored one TD.

Sycamore will play St. Xavier next week at a neutral site TBA Sunday. The Bombers ended the Aviators’ season last year in overtime.
