CINCINNATI — EJ Black was named the Western Hills High School boys’ basketball coach this afternoon and will meet with the Mustangs next week.

Black, who coached Lockland the past two seasons, replaces James Holland who took the Taylor High School position earlier this spring.

Western Hills Athletic Director Chuck Richardson told WCPO.com the school is looking to build a sense of community on Ferguson Road and Black is a good fit for the program.

Western Hills had to hire a new athletic director (Richardson), new football coach (Armand Tatum) and new girls’ basketball coach (David Hardman) along with the boys’ basketball position this spring.

Black, a 2003 Wyoming graduate, says he wants to emphasize ball movement on the floor along with a sense of togetherness among the players. The Mustangs were 4-19 last season.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity,” Black said. “I’m excited about the new challenge at Western Hills.”
