CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati athletic community paid its respects Sunday to a longtime athletic director who passed away unexpectedly.
More than 500 people made their way to the Roger Bacon High School Auditorium between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to say their goodbyes and thank you to longtime athletic director Joe Corcoran, 57. Corcoran passed away Wednesday after undergoing surgery.
The marquee outside the school thanked Corcoran for his dedicated service.
Corcoran was also honored Friday night during the varsity boys' basketball team's memorable 48-47 home victory over St. Xavier. The Spartans wore a special “JC” patch on their uniforms and a moment of silence was observed prior to the National Anthem.
A funeral Mass is planned for Monday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Roger Bacon’s Fogarty Center. Corcoran will be buried later that day at St. Mary Cemetery in St. Bernard.
