Senior Charlie Mullins threw for 132 and all three Newport touchdowns as Matthew Schmitz earned his first coaching win for the Wildcats, 21-6 over Pendleton County on Friday.
Mullins completed 10 of 23 passes, and he threw a TD pass in each of the first three quarters.
Junior Dominic Joseph rushed for 208 yards on 24 carries for Newport, and senior Jayshawn Stanley caught five passes for 62 yards and one score.

SOUTH OLDHAM 34, CONNER 32 – The Cougars were unable to convert a fourth-and-9 at the Dragons’ 24 with 1:44 remaining.
South Oldham converted on fourth-and-1 with nine minutes left, breaking a 40-yard run that set up the Dragons’ final score that extended the lead to nine.
Conner answered with a senior Andrew Way touchdown less than two minutes later, but the Cougars were unable to regain the lead.
Senior quarterback Drew Barker threw a pair of touchdown passes and rushed for a TD. Way caught a touchdown pass and scored twice on runs.

NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 22, LLOYD 7 – Thoroughbreds senior quarterback Mac Franzen threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns, completing 12 of 18 passes.
Franzen added 56 rushing yards on 16 carries, and sophomore Jacob Smith ran the ball 15 times for 63 yards.
NewCath junior wide receiver Nate Enslen caught four passes for 77 yards, including a third-quarter touchdown, and senior wide receiver Tommy Donnelly finished with two catches for 42 yards and caught a late touchdown to seal it.
Juggernauts junior Hayden Molitor finished 12 of 18 passing for 137 yards.

SIMON KENTON 46, RYLE 7 – Senior quarterback Brenan Kuntz went 17-for-19 for 285 yards and four touchdowns to pace the Pioneers.
Kuntz completed his first eight pass attempts as Simon Kenton held the Raiders to 37 first-half yards. Kuntz also ran the ball eight times for 55 yards and the first two TDs of the game.
Junior Logan Winkler was Kuntz’s favorite target, catching nine passes for 140 yards and three scores. Senior Grant Wassom added three receptions for 72 yards and one touchdown.
The Pioneers have scored at least 30 points in their last five games.

WALTON-VERONA 48, CARROLL COUNTY 21 – Wildcats senior Chris Latimore and junior Will Latimore combined for 244 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Will Latimore rushed 13 times for 125 yards and one TD, and he also caught a 57-yard touchdown pass. Chris Latimore carries the ball eight times for 119 yards and a pair of scores.
Freshman linebacker Hunter Ruber led Walton-Verona in tackles with eight.

DIXIE HEIGHTS 42, BOONE COUNTY 7 – Junior quarterback Drew Moore missed just one pass attempt – completing 10 of 11 for 146 yards and one touchdown – in the Colonels’ win.
Moore also rushed for seven times for 135 yards and two TDs.
Dixie Heights senior running back Seth Caple caught four passes for 66 yards and a score, and he also ran in a 9-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Senior running back Darion Washington added 77 ground yards and one TD on nine carries as the Colonels won their fourth straight game.
Junior quarterback Aaron Floyd led the Rebels with 50 rushing yards and their lone score, and he finished 12 of 28 passing for 130 yards in the teams’ district opener.

BELLEVUE 61, OWEN COUNTY 0 – Senior Tyler Ackerson set the Tigers’ single-season passing mark, finishing 19-for-30 for 243 yards and four touchdowns.
Ackerson needed 223 passing yards to establish the new team record. He also caught a two-point conversion pass and ran for another two-point score.
Senior Dylan Huff rolled up 124 rushing yards on 13 carries, scoring three touchdowns. He also caught two TD passes, threw a two-point conversion pass to Ackerson and ran in another.
