WEEK 0 FOOT: Campbell surges past E. Central

Camels score 18 straight second-half points

Campbell County scored 18 unanswered points in the second half en route to a 31-14 win over East Central (Ind.) on Friday.

The Trojans took the lead, 14-13 in the second quarter, and that held until senior running back Josh Carroll’s 3-yard TD and ensuing two-point conversion run by junior Carson Plessinger with 6:26 left in the third quarter.

Senior kicker Juan Arguelles booted a 25-yard field goal with 6:14 left in regulation to make it a two-score game, and Plessinger sealed it with a 22-yard run late in the fourth quarter.

DAYTON 18, BROSSART 13 – The Greendevils scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters and held on in the fourth.

Junior quarterback Dylan Adams ran in the first two Dayton scores, and he finished 7 of 15 passing for 83 yards and ran the ball 10 times for 42 yards.

Senior running back Logan Brewer led the Greendevils in rushing with 80 ground yards and a TD.

Dayton led, 18-0 when junior Frank Cetrulo recovered a fumble and ran it 46 yards for the Mustangs’ first score.

Brossart cut the lead the five on a touchdown with time running out, but the Greendevils recovered the ensuing onside kick to seal it.

Defensively, Dayton allowed just 123 yards of offense. Brewer recorded 11 tackles, including three for a loss.

Senior defensive end Derek Lyons recorded a pair of sacks, and senior safety Matt Grimme and junior defensive back Phillip McDaniel both intercepted a pass. McDaniel also deflected five passes.

HOLMES 21, HOLY CROSS 7 – Junior Delijiah Ross-Tyus rushed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns to break a late tie.

Ross-Tyus put Holmes ahead for good 56 seconds into the final period with a 59-yard TD run, and he sealed it with a 42-yard touchdown with 2:34 remaining.

Ross-Tyus finished with nine carries for 145 yards. Junior quarterback Desean Brumfield completed 10 of 17 passes for 129 yards in the Bulldogs’ win.

Senior quarterback Hamilton Scott threw for 107 yards and rushed for 101 more to pace the Indians.

NEWPORT VS. MASON COUNTY, SUSPENDED – This game will be resumed at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats lead, 6-0 with 3:28 left in the first quarter.

Senior quarterback Paul Price ran in the game’s lone score from one yard out. That touchdown was set up by a 55-yard run by senior running back Dominic Joseph that took it inside the 10.

Newport recovered a fumbled just before the delay and will have the ball, first and 10 at its own 44 at the restart.

SCOTT VS. EAST JESSAMINE, CANCELED – The game will not be completed.

The teams played 4:55 of the first quarter, and there was no score when the game was halted.
