8/21 VB: Cooper, Coach Isaac win 100th match

Jaguars are 100-72 in seven years

Michelle Isaac won her 100th career match, as did the Cooper program as the Jaguars beat Brossart, 25-11, 25-21, 25-16 on Thursday.

Isaac has been at the school all seven years of its existence and has led Cooper to a 100-72 record.

Senior setter Julia Klute rolled up 40 assists, and sophomore middle hitter Kaity Smith tallied 18 kills and three aces for the Jaguars (1-0).

Cooper sophomore outside hitter Becca Ruppel added 10 kills in the win over the Mustangs (1-1).

SIMON KENTON TOPS CONNER IN 4 GAMES – Senior outside hitter Rachael Figgins tallied 10 kills and six blocks as Simon Kenton (1-0) defeated Conner (1-1), 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20.

Senior libero Kelsey Schmiade recorded 15 digs for the Pioneers.

The Cougars were led by sophomore setter Deandra Atwood – Simon Kenton coach Andrea Atwood’s daughter – who finished with 26 assists and four aces, and junior outside hitter Allie Jones notched 12 kills.

WALTON-VERONA WINS LUDLOW POOL – Walton-Verona beat Holmes and Dayton in the first day of the Ludlow Classic.

Sophomore middle hitter Allie Schneider’s four kills and one block led the Bearcats (4-0) over Holmes (1-1), 25-20, 25-11 in the first match.

In the latter match, Walton-Verona beat Dayton (1-3), 25-8, 25-10. Junior setter Emma Rodgers dished for six assists, and junior setter Hailey Ison added four kills and eight aces for the Bearcats.

Holmes beat Dayton, 27-25, 11-25, 15-9 in the other match in that pool.

The remainder of the tournament will be played on Saturday.

ST. HENRY BLANKS VILLA – Junior outside hitter Janelle Tobler recorded nine kills as St. Henry (2-1) defeated Villa Madonna (2-1), 25-12, 25-8.

Senior middle hitter Karly Lehmkuhl chipped in six kills for the Crusaders.

BEECHWOOD BEATS LLOYD – Junior outside hitter Liz Pawsat rolled up 15 kills and three aces as the Tigers (3-0) defeated the Juggernauts (1-2), 25-11, 25-13, 25-15.

Freshman setter Gabby Ogle racked up 50 assists in the Beechwood win.

SCOTT SINKS BRACKEN – Senior setter Jenna Trimpe dished for 12 assists as Scott (2-1) defeated Bracken County (0-2), 25-6, 25-13.

Junior outside hitter Jessica Tapp led the Eagles in kills with six.
