Junior Ryan Ward retired the last five batters as Conner held off Brossart, 3-2 on Monday.

Ward allowed a runner to reach second with one out in the seventh inning, but he induced a fly out and a grounder to close out his first save of the season.

Junior right-hander Dillon Lockstead went 5 1/3 innings to earn his first win of the season for the Cougars.

Sophomore right fielder Drew Borman plated the go-ahead run on a fielder’s choice in the top of the sixth. The Cougars trailed, 2-1 before senior shortstop Jared Williams drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the fifth.
