Broughton 2-run single lifts Pioneers

Junior designated hitter Chelcey Broughton singled home two to put Simon Kenton ahead for good in a 6-4 win over Grant County on Monday.

With the score tied at four and two out in the bottom of the fifth, Broughton lined the base hit to left center.

Pioneers fifth-grade second baseman Macy Krohman knocked in two with a single an inning earlier to key a three-run frame.

HOLMES 15, PENDLETON COUNTY 0 – Sophomore center fielder Kaitlin Ashcraft’s two extra-base hits plated five runs in the Bulldogs’ win.

Ashcraft doubled home a pair in the first inning, and she cleared the bases with a three-run triple in the third.

Freshman third baseman Keyonnah Graham added four RBI for Holmes, including a two-run doubled in the opening stanza.

Though the game was called in the bottom of the third because of the run rule, Bulldogs junior right-hander Taylor Brashear tossed her first career no-hitter.
