3/31 BASE: Holmes holds off Lloyd

Logan shuts the door for the Bulldogs

Junior right-hander Daniel Logan stranded the tying runner at third in Holmes’ 12-11 win over Lloyd on Monday.

Logan came in with a one-run lead in the bottom of the seventh and allowed a single. The runner reached third, but Logan fanned two to close out the win.

Sophomore right fielder David Barney had two hits and three RBI during Holmes’ nine-run fifth, during which the Bulldogs sent 15 men to the plate.

Senior shortstop Austin Simpson added a run-scoring triple during that frame, and he finished with three RBI.

WALTON-VERONA 2, PENDLETON COUNTY 0 – Junior right fielder Baylee Moffett squeezed home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth for the Bearcats.

Sophomore catcher Daniel West added Walton-Verona’s insurance run with an RBI single in the sixth.

CONNER 6, GRANT COUNTY 2 – Senior second baseman Dalton Harshbarger doubled home two with two outs in the top of the fourth to extend the Cougars’ lead to four.

Senior catcher Blake Hart opened the scoring in that inning with an RBI single that made it 3-1.

BEECHWOOD 13, NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 2 – Sophomore third baseman Brayden Combs belted a pair of two-run doubles in the Tigers’ win.

Senior second baseman Trevor Booth singled home two with two outs to cap Beechwood’s five-run first inning.
