Senior right-hander Jeremy Downs pitched out of a tight jam to earn his first varsity save as Ryle held off St. Henry, 9-8 on Wednesday.

Downs went to the mound with his team leading by one and runners at first and second with no outs. Both runners advanced on a passed ball, and Downs generated a ground out and struck out the last two hitters to seal the win.

The Raiders trailed, 5-3 before putting up a five spot in the top of the fourth. Downs doubled in two and senior left fielder Mason Forbes tripled in a run to key that rally.
