Coffey drains decisive foul shot

Highlands sophomore Haley Coffey hit a free throw with four seconds remaining to lift the Bluebirds to a 41-40 win over host Beechwood on Friday.

With the score tied at 40, Coffey hit the front end of a pair of free throws before missing the second. The Tigers got off a desperation shot from beyond half court, but missed at the buzzer.

Beechwood's Jessica Schilling scored a game-high 13 points to lead the Tigers, as sophomore guard Macy Stuempel logged her 1,000th career point and finished with eight. Highlands was led by McKenzie Leigh's 12 points. Coffey finished with nine.

CAMPBELL COUNTY 60, AUGUSTA 53 — Taylor Clos and the Camels took command down the stretch, coming from behind to stun the Lady Panthers. Clos, an eighth-grader, scored 13 of her 18 points on the night in the fourth quarter as Campbell outscored Augusta, 25-16.

The young Camels squad got nine points apiece from Kylie Kramer, Hannah Gray and Taylor Jolly — all sophomores — in the win. Augusta was led by junior Jerica Kelsch's game-high 26 points. Junior Paige McCord added 15 points to the Augusta effort.

BOONE COUNTY 68, CONNER 59 — Rebels junior Sadie Moore came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points and lead Boone over the Cougars. Moore's 21 points was a career-high as well, and came as she grabbed six rebounds and drew the assignment of guarding Conner center Maddie Meyers.

Meyers scored 13, while the sophomore duo of Hunter Hendricks and Taylor Gambrel combined for 28 points for Conner, but the Rebels held on for the win after leading by 15 at the break.

Alexis Switzer scored 12 points and Macey Ford 11 to help Boone to the win.

BELLEVUE 63, HERITAGE 37 — Led by Makayla Bishop's first career triple-double and a 25-point night by Kira Ross, Bellevue sent the Eagles to their ninth-straight loss.

BIshop, a sophomore guard, finished with 10 points, 10 assists and 12 rebounds to pace Bellevue, adding five steals. Ross, another sophomore added 11 rebounds and five steals to her 25 points for a double-double.

Taylor Schwarz led Heritage with 14 points.

DIXIE HEIGHTS 58, LUDLOW 32 — Junior center Liza Tibbs had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman Brooke Davis added another 13 points, as the Lady Colonels turned a tight game at the half into a blowout.

Trailing by a point at the break, Dixie held the Panthers to just 10 points in the second half, outscoring Ludlow 37-10.

CALVARY CHRISTIAN 61, SILVER GROVE 22 — The Lady Cougars jumped out to an early lead then cruised for the win to move back above .500 after a two-game slide.

Senior guard Sarah Roaden led with way with 25 points, while classmate Hayley Emmerich scored 16.

With the duo leading the way in scoring, backcourt-mate Dayne Markley, a junior, registered eight rebounds and four assists to help Calvary to the win.
