Thoroughbreds blow out Green County

Newport Central Catholic senior forward Jake Schulte scored all 18 of his points in the first half as the Thoroughbreds rolled to a 69-33 win in an All ‘A’ quarterfinal at Frankfort on Friday.

Schulte tallied nine points in each of the first two quarters.

The Thoroughbreds will play Lexington Christian in a semifinal at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

CONNER 63, BOONE COUNTY 50 – Senior forward Samuel Hemmerich poured in 14 first-quarter points as the Cougars jumped out to a nine-point lead by period’s end.

Hemmerich notched a game-best 25 points, and sophomore guard Michael Scott recorded 14, with nine coming in the fourth quarter to help seal it.

Senior center Will Stuhr rolled up 11 points for the Raiders.

Campbell County sophomore center Matt Wilson ended up with seven rebounds in addition to his 13 points.

ST. HENRY 81, LLOYD 57 – Senior center Jordan Noble racked up 20 points to lead all scorers, and he hit all 10 of his free throws.

Sophomore guard Adam Goetz poured in 17 points as St. Henry won for the fifth time in six games.

The Crusaders finished the game 27-for-29 from the foul line.

Freshman guard Lashunn Townsend and sophomore forward Andrew Kemen had 14 points each for the Juggernauts.

HOLMES 90, BEECHWOOD 32 – Sophomore guard Markel McClendon and senior forward Quinton Chames tallied eight points each in the Bullogs’ 33-point second quarter.

McClendon topped the field with 16 points, and Chames finished with 15. Senior center Marcus Hill pulled down 10 rebounds as Holmes won its seventh straight.
