Holy Cross took second place in the Miami Middletown (Ohio) Tournament in 2012.

But junior forward Ally Mayhaus’ 24 points helped the Indians roll to a 61-24 win over Germantown (Ohio) Valley View in the championship game in that event on Saturday.

Mayhaus also grabbed 12 rebounds in the win. Her twin sister, junior forward Cessie Mayhaus, pulled down 11 boards for Holy Cross.

NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 58, LaRUE COUNTY 40 – Thoroughbreds senior forward Nikki Kiernan set a personal season best with 21 points in a semifinal of the Montgomery County Invitational.

The score was tied after the first quarter, but Kiernan scored 14 points in the second quarter to help NewCath jump out to a 19-point halftime lead. She also grabbed nine rebounds.

The Thoroughbreds, who started the decisive second frame with a 16-0 run, will face Ashland Blazer in the championship at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Junior forward Alexus Mayes added 18 points and nine rebounds for NewCath, which its ninth straight game.

VILLA MADONNA 46, OWEN COUNTY 37 – Blue Lightning sophomore guard Lexie Aytes posted a career-high 21 points in the finale of the Ohio River Classic.

Senior guard Alex Hengge racked up 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and a pair of blocks for Villa Madonna, which finished seventh in the tournament.

Junior forward Hillary Hellmann added 11 points for Notre Dame.

MISHAWAKA (Ind.) 61, NOTRE DAME 58 – A late shot by the Pandas missed its mark, and Notre Dame finished fourth in the Columbus (Ind.) North Invitational.

Senior guard Paige Kellam paced the Pandas with 17 points, and junior guard Sydney Stallman added 15 in the losing effort.
