Junior point guard Zach Pangallo scored a game-high 18 points for Newport Central Catholic in a 67-51 win over Pleasure Ridge Park in a Lexington Catholic Classic quarterfinal on Saturday.

Pangallo tallied seven points in the first quarter and six more in the second. Senior guard Tanner Moeves added 15 points for the Thoroughbreds, including a pair of clutch 3-pointers in the third quarter.

NewCath, which avenged an eight-point loss to the Panthers last week, will play Lexington Lafayette in a semifinal at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

NEWPORT 80, BRACKEN COUNTY 61 – Wildcats sophomore guard Ethan Snapp rolled up 30 points in the fifth-place game of the Bracken County Invitational.

Snapp scored 12 of his points in the second quarter.

Sophomore forward Kameron Covington added a career-best 21 points, and he pulled down 11 rebounds in the Newport win.

BOONE COUNTY 70, SCOTT 58 – Junior guard Brenden Stanley led the Rebels with 21 points at the Lloyd Invitational.

Stanley scored nine of his points in the decisive second quarter in which Boone County erased a seven-point lead and took a four-point cushion into halftime.

Stanley also dished with five assists. Junior guard Hunter Hixenbaugh added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Rebels, including seven points during the decisive second stanza.

BOONE COUNTY 60, MADISONVILLE 58 – The Rebels ran off nine straight points from the opening tip and held on for the win in the fifth-place game of the Lloyd Invitational.

Junior guard Brett Mayberry hit a three at the end of the third quarter to give Boone County a one-point lead heading into the final stanza. He finished with a team-high 15 points, hitting 6 of 8 shots from the field.

Rebels junior forward Junior Stockwell added 14 points, as he went 7-for-9 from the field. He scored 10 of his points in the first half and grabbed five rebounds.

Boone County won the final three games of the tournament after losing the opener.

BEECHWOOD 61, PENDLETON COUNTY 49 – Sophomore guard Kyle Fieger scored 11 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Tigers erased a one-point deficit in the Bracken County Tournament.

Fieger scored 21 of his points in the second half. Junior guard Jacob Huff added 15 points, with 10 coming in the final stanza, and junior forward Jon Stokes pulled down 11 rebounds for Beechwood, which finished 1-2 in the tournament.
