Bolden scores 30 for Bulldogs

Holmes rallied from a three-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to win the championship game of the Stop DWI Classic, 67-59 on Saturday.

Junior guard James Bolden scored 10 straight Bulldogs points in the final frame, and he netted 17 of his game-high 30 points in the second quarter. He finished with seven 3-pointers.

Senior guard Armani Housley scored seven first-quarter points and tallied 16 for the game in the Holmes win, its eighth straight to open the season.

BOONE COUNTY 67, INDIAN HILL (Ohio) 53 – Junior guard Brenden Stanley scored nine points in the first quarter to help the Rebels jump out to an early seven-point lead.

Stanley finished with 17 points, five assists and five steals as Boone County won its sixth game in its first seven to open the season.

Rebels senior center Brannen McDonald came off the bench to score 11 points, hitting all five of his field goal attempts, and senior forward Hunter Hixenbaugh added five helpers.

Of its 29 field goals, Boone County earned assists on 17 baskets.

NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 69, FORT MYERS (Fla.) 53 – Senior center Jake Schulte scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to ice the win for the Thoroughbreds in the King of the Bluegrass at Fairdale.

Schulte led all scorers with 23 points, and junior guard Zach Pangallo hit a pair of threes in the first quarter and finished with 16 points.

BEECHWOOD 54, CHATHAM (Ont.) JOHN McGREGOR 26 – Junior guard Jacob Huff scored a game-best 19 points for the Tigers in the Swauger Classic at Bellevue.

Huff poured in nine points in the second quarter and eight more in the third.

Junior guard Nick Colosimo added 11 points for Beechwood.
