Sophomore guard Ansley Davenport scored nine of her team-high 14 points in the decisive third quarter as Newport Central Catholic beat Montgomery County, 58-33 on Friday.

Thoroughbreds junior forward Alexus Mayes and senior Nikki Kiernan added 12 points each, and both hit a pair of 3-pointers.

Junior point guard Michaela Ware was the fourth member of NewCath to reach double-digits in scoring, finishing with 10 points as the Thoroughbreds extended their winning streak to six games to open the season.

HOLMES 82, LUDLOW 16 – Senior guard Deena Kilburn racked up 17 points to lead 11 Bulldogs scorers.

Eighth-grade forward Tyrah Englemon scored 11 of her 15 points during Holmes’ 36-point first-quarter run.

Junior forward Tori Wofford scored 10 of the Panthers’ points.
