Sophomore guard Morgan Simpson hit a pair of 3-pointers in overtime as Walton-Verona beat South Oldham, 88-77 on Saturday.

Simpson finished with a career-high 22 points for the Bearcats, who hit 15 threes.

Sophomore guard Olivia Dezarn hit a key trey in the extra session that pushed Walton-Verona’s lead to four, after which the Dragons never pulled within striking distance.

Sophomore forward Hailey led all scorers with 27 points, and junior guard Alie Mills added 16 in the Bearcats’ win.

Senior forward Nikki Kiernan led NewCath with 20 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Junior guard Michaela Ware added 11 points.

RYLE 49, CLAY COUNTY 43 – Sophomore guard Mallory Schwartz rolled up a team-high 16 points for the Raiders, hitting 7 of 11 shots from the field and grabbing five rebounds.

Junior guard Madison Martin scored nine of her 13 points in the second quarter as Ryle improved to 4-1 in its last five games.

 NEWPORT 46, EMINENCE 12 – Freshman forward Shay Smith scored 14 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to pace the Wildcats.

Smith scored eight of her points in the third quarter as Newport won for the eighth time in its last nine games.

Junior forward Maggi Bosse scored eight of her points during a second quarter that saw Simon Kenton outscore the Braves, 24-0. Bosse finished with 10 points and five rebounds.

CONNER 86, LEWIS COUNTY 73 – Senior guard Brooke Maines scored 12 fourth-quarter points to help the Cougars pull away.

Three Conner players tallied 20 or more points. Maines finished with 23 points, sophomore guard Hunter Hendricks posted a career-high 25 points, and senior center Madi Meyers rolled up 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior guard Emily Frye tallied 39 points in the Lions’ loss.
