Notre Dame scored with 25 minutes remaining to edge Newport Central Catholic, 3-2 on Thursday.
Senior midfielder Maddie Tierney sent a pass across the front of the net that hit a defender and went in the net, giving the Pandas the lead for good.
The Thoroughbreds opened the scoring nine minutes into the match, but Tierney tied the score 20 seconds later.
Freshman striker Christin Sherrard put Notre Dame ahead at the 49-minute mark, and NewCath tied it again a minute after that goal.
Both of the Thoroughbreds’ goals came off of corner kicks.
NewCath entered Thursday riding a 13-match unbeaten streak (11-0-2). The Pandas are now unbeaten in the their last six matches (5-0-1).

HIGHLANDS 0, ST. HENRY 0 – Bluebirds senior Sarah Owen and Crusaders sophomore Abby Ziegelmeyer were both perfect in net.
Owen stopped three shots to earn her third shutout of the season, and Ziegelmeyer turned five shots aside to record her second solo blanking.

BEECHWOOD 3, SCOTT 1 – Senior Emily Pawsat scored a goal in each half to lead the Tigers.
Senior McKenzie Fessler also recorded a first-half marker for Beechwood.
Junior Shea Stivers netted the Eagles’ lone goal.
