Senior midfielder Connor Hanneken scored with four minutes remaining to lift Newport Central Catholic to a 2-1 win over Highlands in the District 36 final on Tuesday.
Hanneken scored off a throw-in by senior forward Matt Tolle.
Tolle gave the Thoroughbreds the lead midway through the first half, beating the goalkeeper 1-on-1 after getting past a defender and taking a through ball from senior forward Gualt Nolan.
Sophomore Noah Sellers tied the score for the Bluebirds with 14 minutes left in regulation.

BOONE COUNTY 5, CONNER 1 – Junior forward Dane Thamann scored a goal and assisted on two others in a District 33 semifinal at Ryle.
Junior sweeper Lucas Wheeler helped the Rebels shut down Conner’s offense as Boone County held the Cougars to five shots on goal.
The Rebels led, 5-0 before letting in Conner’s lone goal with 15 minutes remaining.
Boone County will play Ryle in the championship match at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

RYLE 6, COOPER 1 – Senior striker Alberto Aguirre scored 90 seconds into the match and set up two more to pace the Raiders in their District 33 semifinal at Ryle.
Junior midfielder Sulieman Kayed chipped in with a goal and an assists for the Raiders, who will host Boone County in the final at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

SCOTT 4, CAMPBELL COUNTY 0 – Sophomore midfielder Devin Morgan and junior forward Blake Schneider scored two goals each in the Eagles’ District 37 semifinal at Campbell County.
Morgan opened the scoring with the lone first-half goal on a penalty kick.
Scott will play Brossart in the district championship at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

BROSSART 5, CALVARY CHRISTIAN 0 – Mustangs senior midfielders Eli Nienaber and Drew Miller recorded a goal and an assist each in a District 37 semifinal at Campbell County.
Seniors Jacob Jennings and Andrew Graus also scored for Brossart, which will face Scott in the District 37 title match at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
