CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Bengals signed first-round draft pick Tyler Eifert on Monday, putting all 10 draft picks under contract before training camp.
"We've said all along that we expected Tyler's deal to get done in good time, but it's great to now have all our signings complete," said head coach Marvin Lewis. "All 10 guys can help us by getting off to fast starts, and we are looking for Tyler to lead that. He's shown us everything we wanted to see in our offseason work."
The Notre Dame tight end was the 21st pick of the 2013 draft. In 2012, Eifert won the John Mackey Award as the top tight end in college football.
Eifert will wear No. 85 formerly worn by Chad Johnson (Ochocinco) and Isaac Curtis. Eifert wore No. 80 at Notre Dame but that was already taken by second-year H-back Orson Charles.
Bengals training camp will be held at Paul Brown Stadium, with a pep rally on July 25 and open practices from July 26 to Aug. 15.
