CINCINNATI - The Bengals signed second-round draft pick draft Jeremy Hill and third-rounder Will Clarke Tuesday, leaving only first-rounder Darqueze Dennard unsigned.
Hill, a running back from LSU, set a school career record for yards-per-rush (6.25) and had six rushes of 50 or more yards as a senior. At 233 pounds, he is the biggest RB the Bengals have drafted above the sixth round since 1977, when 248-pound Pete Johnson was chosen in the second round.
Clarke was successful at defensive end and defensive tackle at West Virginia. He switched from weak-side DE to strong-side DT as a senior and posted career-best totals for sacks (six) and tackles-for-loss (17). He is the only WVU player to win three “Iron Mountaineer” awards for excellence in the weight room.
The Bengals have signed seven of their eight draft selections. Signed previously were C Russell Bodine (fourth round, North Carolina), QB AJ McCarron (fifth round, Alabama), LB Marquis Flowers (sixth round, Arizona), WR James Wright (seventh round, LSU) and CB Lavelle Westbrooks (seventh round, Georgia Southern).
