CINCINNATI -- Julia Bidlack probably never imagined she’d wear black and orange on her wedding day.

She and her husband, Ryan, got married Sunday surrounded by dozens of tailgaters before the Bengals’ season opener at Paul Brown Stadium.

Family, friends and fans sat in lawn chairs draped in orange ribbons to watch the couple get married in front of a Bengals’ bus in Who Dey Nation.

Ryan said the idea of a tailgate wedding was a joke at first.

“Probably not the ideal setting for a wedding, but the more we talked about it … the better it sounded,” he said.

A diehard Bengals fan, Ryan hasn’t missed a home game in over 15 years.

“I haven’t missed a game in the new stadium since it was built, and we are always in this spot every home game,” he said.

Julia is from Austria. While football isn’t very popular there, she said she quickly became a Bengals fan, and she was on board with the tailgate wedding from the beginning.

“It’s the 50th anniversary of the Bengals, and I said, ‘Actually, why not,’” she said.

The couple plans to have a more “traditional and formal” ceremony next year.
