CINCINNATI – Xavier climbed to its highest rankings ever - No. 4 and No. 5 - in the college basketball polls Monday. But none of the voters think they're No. 1.

The Musketeers (21-2) moved up one spot in both polls, reaching fourth in the coaches poll for the first time and matching its record fifth spot in the AP sportswriters' poll.

The Musketeers did not get any first-place votes, though, despite the fact that they have a better record than all the teams ranked ahead of them.

Big East foe Villanova (20-3), which handed Xavier one of its losses, is the new No. 1 in both polls, followed by Maryland (21-3) and Oklahoma (19-3). Xavier and Iowa (19-4) seesaw in the next two spots. Iowa got 11 first-place votes in the AP poll and three in the coaches poll.

Five teams got first-place votes in the AP poll and seven in the coaches poll.

Xavier is seventh in the NCAA Official RPI.

Xavier became the first Division I team to reach 20 wins last week. The Musketeers play at Creighton (15-9)on Tuesday.
