CINCINNATI - Xavier Univeristy's men's basketball team, who has won five of the last six Atlantic 10 Conference regular season men's basketball championships, has been picked ninth out of 16 teams in the league's preseason poll.

Saint Joseph's has been chosen as the Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball preseason favorite. The league announced the poll and preseason awards Thursday in conjunction with its annual Media Day, held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Both the awards and the predicted order of finish were chosen by a panel of the league's head coaches and media members.

With the departure of all of Xavier's starters for various reasons (graduation, transfer and expulsion), it's easy to see why the preseason rankings don't reflect much success for XU this year. There is a bright spot, as freshman Semaj Christon earned a spot on the A-10 preseason All-Rookie Team, the only XU individual to earn preseason honors.

Ahead of the Musketeers are the St. Louis Billikens, new addition to the A-10 VCU, Temple, UMass, the other new A-10 team Butler, La Salle and Dayton. The full list of the A-10 preseason rankings can be found below.
