UK Big Blue Madness event to be aired on national TV

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Most of the University of Kentucky's men's basketball games will be on national television this season so why should one of their practices be any different?

Big Blue Madness, the annual tip-off event for the UK basketball season, will be among several pre-season basketball celebrations featured on an ESPN station in October, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader .

ESPNU will carry more than four hours of event on Friday, Oct. 18 with commentary from announcers Jimmy Dykes and Lexington native Darrin Horn.

In addition to the live analysis from ESPNU, the event will be televised on WKYT-27 and Fox Sports South.

The event, which will also feature the nationally-ranked women's team, begins at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to UK, ESPNU will provide coverage from eight other programs on Oct. 18. In addition to Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse, Oklahoma State, Wichita State, Memphis, New Mexico, UConn and Florida Gulf Coast will have parts of their season-opening practices covered.
