COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Cincinnati Dance Team received special recognition in the Ohio state capital Wednesday for their gold medal performance at a recent world championship competition.
State Sen. Shannon Jones (R–Springboro) presented a resolution to the UC squad for winning the 2014 International Cheer Union (ICU) World Championship. The dance team, consisting of more than 30 women who represented Team USA, won the Team Cheer Hip Hop category, which featured teams from more than 80 countries around the world.
The event is the largest international cheerleading and dance team competition in the world.
“This is truly an incredible accomplishment and all of these girls should be extremely proud of themselves," Jones said of the team at a meeting at the statehouse. "Their program has a history of excellence and they made both Ohio and America proud.”

Jones previously honored the team March 26 for winning in the same category the Division IA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship.
