CINCINNATI - Local high school basketball standout Kevin Johnson will play for Mick Cronin and the University of Cincinnati Bearcats in 2013.
The Summit Country Day junior guard who helped the Silver Knights (26-1) win the Division III state title this year verbally committed to play for UC during a news conference Monday afternoon.
Johnson averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and nearly 3 assists this past season. He helped bring the school, which was founded in 1890, its first ever boy's basketball championship.
The 6-foot 2-inch guard also had offers from Minnesota, Bowling Green and Creighton, according to Bill Koch of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Johnson is the second player to commit to play for UC in 2013. Virginia guard Troy Caupain verbally committed to play for UC on Friday.
