Jermaine Lawrence: University of Cincinnati freshman forward asks for release, report says

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati freshman forward Jermaine Lawrence has requested his release and is expected to transfer, sources told CBSSports.com.

Lawrence, a highly-sought five-star recruit from New York, played 15 minutes a game but averaged just 2.8 points and 2.9 rebounds.

He missed eight games with a toe injury and then scored just nine total points in the final 11 games.

UC has confirmed the account.
