CINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati men's basketball head coach Mick Cronin signed a new seven-year contract with the Bearcats, according to ESPN.com reports.
ESPN reporter Andy Katz says the contract will pay Cronin, 42, $2.2 million annually. Cronin confirmed the deal to Katz after the UC Board of Trustees approved it Monday.
Cronin has coached the Bearcats since 2006 and has led the team to four straight NCAA tournaments.
UC went 27-7 last season, 15-3 in the new American Conference, tying for first place with Louisville.
The new deal comes on the heels of national champion UConn re-signing their head coach, Kevin Ollie, to a five-year, $2.8 million per year contract, according to ESPN. That deal made Ollie the highest paid coach in the American Conference.
Katz reports SMU's Larry Brown, Memphis' Josh Pastner and Cronin follow Ollie on the salary scale.
